2.   One historian has noted that in the Gilded Age, ³Democrats were separated from Republicans more by accident of national origin, geography, history, and emotion than by economic issues.² Explain why he would state this.

1. How were the lives of the Plains Indians in the second half of the 19th century affected by technological developments and government actions?
